THE WINNERS: Maker of The Year 2022

Comments Comments

We’re thrilled to announce the award winners for Maker of the Year 2022, presented by Carbatec!

A chair that speaks of tradition and also modernity is the piece that has propelled Jess Humpston into the limelight as Overall Winner of this year’s Maker of the Year 2022. Although categories were individually judged, Jess’s work was shortlisted in three of the four categories she entered, an additional reflection of the excellence of her work!

Maker of the Year 2022 is presented by Carbatec and sponsored by American Hardwood Export Council, Felder Group Australia, The Ultimate Renewable, Whittle Waxes and Wood Solutions. Huge thanks go to these companies for their amazing community support!

Huge thanks go also to this year’s fantastic judges: Marc Fish (UK), Laura Mays (USA), Grace Cochrane AM, Will Matthysen, Ruth Thompson and William Bayliss. Award winners now share in a prize pool of $23,000+ including $10,000 in cash and $10,000 in Carbatec vouchers.

Lastly, we thank all who entered! We have enjoyed viewing and appreciating every single entry and look forward to presenting your work again in 2023 when MOTY opens for entry next February.

The December issue (#117) of the magazine is on its way out to subscribers and retailers now. It features an interview with Jess Humpston and highlights award winners and 100 shortlisted entries with special comments from the judges.

Australian Wood Review is sold in select newsagents and specialty woodworking outlets. For the digital edition of the magazine head to Zinio where the December issue will soon be available. Subscribe from the March issue #118 to take advantage of our 40% off Xmas offer – only $30 for one year print+digital to Australian addresses.

Congratulations to all award winners for Maker of the Year 2022!
