A fiddleback Blackwood book matched jewellery box. The outer layer of timber is 4mm solid Blackwood with the interior being 6mm plainer Blackwood . There is a removable tray support and divider so as it make it a multiple use product. The Blackwood sliding tray also has a white pearl resin band around the top edge. The interior is lined with a black felt. The book matched bark edge top and front has a white pearl resin feature in the centre. It looks like a very natural quartz feature I feel. The opening edge has a moulded cock bead feature. Another feature is the construction method and hinge position allows the lid to self support itself at around 110deg without the need of stays or blocks on the back. This is achieved by making the back of the box slightly thicker making the hinge pivot point the key to achieving this. The construction method uses mitre joints throughout ensuring they are pre sealed before final gluing ensuring a maximum strength join. My love of the bark edge feature ensures every box is unique. The finish is a sprayed satin polyurethane. The concept of my design comes from wanting to utilise the beauty in the contrasting colours of the interior of the log to the outer edge as well is the natural beauty of the edge.
