Carved out of a very old recycled iron bark post I found that had a burl in one section and the a beautiful grain flow through it. I formed up a box a bit larger than the piece of timber and filled the rest with a casting resin. Then from that, I carved the Whale. A lot of hours polishing it to get it right. I love giving something like a thrown away post, the opportunity to have a second chance at serving a purpose.
