Weight of the world is a piece that represents the the pressures that we put on ourselves but also shows that we are not alone in those struggles. The creation of this piece involve a forgotten 200 year old technique where the silhouettes of the man are not seen until the ring is cut into the section, revealing the hidden shape. The turning has to be done to incredibly fine detail to make sure the shape is correct when its cut in half as there is no modification after that. It was a challenge to be able to turn a perfect hollow sphere to sit cradled in the hands of the ring. Then by using an image transfer technique, the shapes of the continents were added. Its the most technical piece of turning that I have done and I'm really proud of how this one came together
