A pair of easy chairs and accompanying table present a refined and modern interpretation of the Art Deco style. The set is made from American black walnut and dyed green poplar veneer with the chair upholstered in a rich green velvet fabric to complement the timber. Inspired by makers who explore bent lamination techniques, the design showcases elegant curves and contemporary craftsmanship. The chair is intended as a relaxing spot where one could partake in daytime or evening reading. Paired with a small, three-legged side table featuring a striking sunburst top, the set embodies a balanced fusion of function and style. The inspiration for the set was the fashion of streamlining locomotives and cars of the era with their sweeping lines and good looks along with the colours that the time period evoked. I wanted to demonstrate that furniture can be reminiscent of the past while having a look modern look.
