This madrone cabinet on a walnut stand is a slight trapezoid with two laminated madrone doors fit with coopered cypress panels. The drawer is made with a similar laminated construction with a grain match in all directions and compound angle dovetails to give the drawer a seamless appearance inside the case. Inspired heavily by James Krenov’s “Cabinet in Andaman Padauk” and Hunter Menken’s “Mnemosyne” cabinet, this project gave me a chance to work with curves and all the challenges they bring, as well as work with some fantastic woods like madrone and cypress. All the boards used in the construction of the piece were sourced in Northern California. 51” x 30” x 14” Photos by Todd Sorenson
