The Mitre Chair is part of a terrace furniture set (two chairs, a two-seater sofa, and a table). I drew the first plans for the terrace furniture set already last year, but I let the idea simmer in my mind for several months to achieve the best possible outcome. I wanted the chair to clearly stand out from the crowd, so I designed it in such a way that the seat would appear more substantial than it actually is, and the backrest would appear to “float.” From certain angles, the “floating effect” worked beautifully. The oak used for the terrace furniture is very old and slightly variegated, which also gives the chair its own distinctive liveliness.
