1300 ROUND TABLE Timbers used Huon Pine Sugar Gum Red Ironbark Red/White Ironbark cross Grey Box Red Gum All timber sourced either from fallen logs or forest thinning. I made this table on commission. The main criteria being the size and the wish to have Huon Pine as the surrounding edge of the top. The centre of the top was created by various sized, nicely figured boards arranged to either compliment or contrast with its partner. Some of the centre boards were run into the edging to add interest both visually and for me in the making. The fine red timber inlays I used as an accent to draw ones attention to various timbers and shapes and to unify the top as a whole. The base was inspired by a metal saw stool I have. I reversed the legs direction and have the wider parts on the floor giving a more sturdy and grounded effect while still being elegant. The lower stretchers pierce the tapered legs adding both drama and visual appeal.
