I make classical guitars in Barcelona, Spain. I'm Japanese, but I moved to Barcelona 15 years ago because I wanted to make Spanish guitars. My motivation for putting my work up for sale this time was to be able to reach out to people in a variety of genres. The design of the rosette is based on the large stained glass on the ceiling of the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. This stained glass was created by Antoni Rigalt i Blanch together with Domènech i Montaner, who built the Palau de la Música Catalana. The rosette is made up of 99 pieces of 0.5mm wood veneer in red, orange, yellow, white, and black, combined to create a beautiful gradation. The inside is made of red wood inlay, which gradually transitions to orange, yellow, and white on the outside. Because this rosette is circular, not all of the patterns are perfect 0.5mm squares. The outside (bottom edge) is 0.5mm wide, but the inside (top edge) gradually becomes thinner, ranging from 0.47mm to 0.46mm wide. This is very detailed and difficult work. The details of the production are posted on my website, so please take a look. The rosette is embedded in German spruce. The frame of the German spruce is made of African mahogany. The stand made to support these was inspired by the original Art Nouveau design and is made of African mahogany. It can be disassembled into two parts for storage. It is an object made entirely of wood, without any screws or nails. The finish was applied using French polish, which is also used in musical instrument production.
