Miles Lush, Recycled Timber Dining Table (Student Awards 2018)

I am entering my year 12 student, Miles Lush. Miles studied Industrial Technology – Timber in year 12 in 2018. Miles wanted to create a dining table from recycled materials. He sourced the materials by working for a local farmer during his school holidays. As payment for his work the farmer was happy for Miles to pull down some old cattle yards for the ironbark rails. Miles loved the unique character of recycled timber and the story that accompanies his table. He did not have to spend significant amounts of money on new materials and he wanted to benefit the environment by using recycled materials. His work ethic was superb in all areas throughout the year and he now has a beautiful piece of furniture that will last him a lifetime. St Mary's College Gunnedah, NSW Teacher: Oliver Neader
