I designed and constructed a Portable Modular Workbench. This workbench has a flat pack design and inspired by Japanese joinery. This workbench is held together by eight wedged mortise and tenon joints, allowing it to be easily assembled and disassembled. This allows the project to be taken apart into four different components. This accessible design allows me to move this bench in the future i.e. When I move out of the family home and continue with woodwork. Crafted from tasmanian oak and merbau, I created a contrasting blend of timber, creating not only a strong and durable project but an overall aesthetic piece. I additionally increased the functionality, by adding features like an inset rebate to hold tools when working and butterfly inlays to reduce any cracks that could appear in the top due to splitting. I also added the components of the drawer set to increase the overall functionality of the design and to enable storage of all future woodworking equipment.
