I named my jewellery box “Pioneer” as homage to the family of the fellow woodworker from which I sourced the Rosewood timber. They sailed up the Bellinger river to become early settlers in the area. It is made from Rosewood with joinery done mostly with hand tools. The lid has a Camphor Laurel book matched inlay. The trim on the lid and the dovetailed splines on the mitred corners are White Ash sourced from a tree in my back yard. The lid has a hand made Rosewood hinge with solid brass chain stays. The trays inside are White Ash all lined with maroon velvet. The entire box is finished with French polished white Shellac.
