The story of this 3.6-metre wall hanging began in 2021, when I slabbed a fallen pink gum and set it aside to season, knowing it would one day find its place in something special. Two years later, that moment arrived, and plans for this bold statement piece took shape. I let the timber guide the design, working organically with its rich grain, natural voids, and weathered history. The rotten imperfections of the pink gum were salvaged, celebrated and enhanced with swirls of emerald, copper and black bio-resin. The pours of resin echoed rivers winding through an Australian landscape. Fractal burning introduced lightning-like patterns, mirroring the energy and unpredictability of nature itself. The triptych format allowed the grain and resin to flow seamlessly across all three panels, creating visual balance and a bold gallery-style presence. Every swirl of resin, grain of timber and fractal burn of this contemporary artwork tells a story of patience, passion, craftsmanship, and nature’s raw beauty.
