Reminiscent of festivities, picnics, and celebrations, Otto is a heartfelt tribute to growing up in a Malaysian Chinese household in Australia, where food has woven these vibrant cultures together. Handcrafted through traditional woodworking techniques, the curved grain cradles tradition and nostalgia, inviting new memories with loved ones. American White Oak has been meticulously dressed down to 2mm veneers and steambent to create the curves of Otto. Joined together using tongue and groove joinery, the oblong form was then coated with a light layer of tung oil to enhance its natural hues. Why the name Otto? Translating to the number eight, Otto signifies an auspicious and lucky number in Chinese culture and playfully aligns with the compartments to make out the letters o and t.
