Creating “Open Sesame” had long been a dream of mine. I wanted to design a substantial desk and computer workstation that would impress not only with its generous dimensions and broad surfaces, but also with its thoughtful refinements. Despite its scale and solid construction, “Open Sesame” was envisioned to embody elegance and a sense of lightness. Side inlays break up the otherwise uniform expanses and bring visual variety, while the walnut accents set into the oak tabletop add another layer of contrast and sophistication. Because the desk was also conceived as a computer workstation, a monitor lift was essential to me—allowing the screen to vanish seamlessly into the tabletop when not in use and reappear at the touch of a button whenever needed.
