Old Hobo, a migrant worker in the back blocks of Australia. Hoboes travels about the bush either bumming a ride or walking to where his feet will take him. Hoboes are always willing to work and then move on. This Hobo was drawn up by a very special person, my wife the artist. This old man was carved from a solid piece of western red cedar without any pieces being added on. with the use of hand carving tools, Dremils with attachments and plenty of hand sanding, the result is very pleasing. He resides on a pedestal (made from 200 year old jarrah) in our dinning room and gets a few admirers. He is 520mm tall. The great coat in life is usually leather, my neighbor had one and paraded it for photos. The finish is several coats of beeswax. The grain of the cedar is special as it shows off the old clothing very well. He will become a family air loom. he is passionately known as hobo.
