My name is Matteo, and my brand is UnMoro. When naming my creations, I often use adjectives turned into nouns. This time the choice fell on "Lignea", that in Italian means made of wood and contains the word "linea". A line on wood, both curved and straight, a sequence of flat shapes that chase and touch each other on a curved surface. I wanted to create a curved, veneered piece of furniture because I had never used these techniques before. The style is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau period, but with modern details. Every project starts with a very simple sketch, then many details emerge during the process. I wanted to go for light, more contemporary tones. Approximate dimensions (HxWxD): 70x100x37 cm. I made a veneered cabinet using white ash burl and sapeli pomelé with a geometric pattern. The interior is entirely in sapeli pomelé. The base, made of solid sapeli, was created using bent lamination and then milled to give the impression of a bent tube. A slightly off-center piece was added to create more movement. The drawers are made of solid sapeli and ash, with hidden slides and half-blind dovetail joints. The handles and knobs are made from a sandwich of sapeli and ash burl strips. The doors have a hidden magnetic closure. The back of the cabinet features a striped design: sapeli pomelé is paired with walnut veneer. The piece is finished with boiled linseed oil, shellac, and wax.
