This Japanese inspired work desk was constructed for my Year 12 HSC major project. It features a large Kumiko panel using the Asanoha and Shippo pattern made from Basswood in a Walnut grid displayed under glass with LED lights further highlighting the component. The desk utilises 2 Japanese joins, the Kanawa Tsugi joint in the legs and the Kane Tsugi joint in the border. A hidden drawer provides storage that is easily concealed from view when closed. The desk is made from Tasmanian Oak except for the Kumiko panel with half of the legs and the rails stained to a Walnut colour to tie the design elements together cohesively.
