For my 2025 HSC Major Project I chose to Construct a Federal-Style desk. The desk will be used for a study area for me and my family as well as being a feature pieces in my house. The main focal points of the table include the bellflower inlays on the taper legs, A hidden drawer area that is revealed 2 tambour door and beautiful dovetail inlays that contrast the colours of my timber. I constructed the desk from solid Mahogany and stunning rock maple. I employed a vast array of timber joinery techniques and process that have been executed to the upmost quality. These include dovetail joints, Hand curved inlays, taper legs and Tambour doors, all joints where hand cut and the inlays on the legs where made by using chisels in a slow long process. I chose to apply a stunning French Polish that highlighted the beautiful grain patter, texture and colour of Mahogany.
