A reimagining of a classic Arrowback settee with imagery in the iconic gold-on-black Hitchcock furniture painting style, blending contemporary designs into traditional fruit and garden motifs. Arrowback settees were intended to welcome visitors and display the wealth of the owners. The paintings on this piece depict the settee’s dual roles - golden hands scattered throughout, both offering and withholding symbols of prosperity and hospitality to the visitor.
