Figured Eucalypt Credenza Brief: : Gift for a generous employer to a loyal and valued employee : Utilise some feature grade Tasmanian Oak they milled in past years. : Design and construct a unit with shelves and drawers. : The “unit” needed to meet dimensional requirements. : include lighting and modern hardware. My thoughts were to honour the outstanding and unique material by: Contrasting the exterior solid figured eucalypt carcass and make six clear figure free Tasmanian hardwood dovetailed drawer units with panelled drawer bottoms and apply the matching figured eucalypt to the front. Soft close drawer runners added smooth modern drawer action. The Drawer handles were shaped and applied with matching eucalypt to add 2 vertical elements and provide 6 robust handles. The ends of the credenza top were shaped and curved to add interest Furniture lighting added functionality and enhanced tonal qualities of the wood and finally 2 glass shelves maximised the space and provided a modern touch. The Figured Eucalypt Credenza was hand finished wax.
