Eri Hanger. Steam bent ash. Weight capacity: 13 kgs. It all started with an insignificant curved piece I found lying around after a day of free play experimentation with steam bending. I fell in love with the lines and knew instantly that it was the basis for a hanger design. Two weeks of failed jigs and redesigns later, I landed on this final hanger. Its smooth, compound curves create an arch that perfectly mimics the lines of the one’s shoulders and neck, while the double arch design dramatically improves its strength. The main feature of the hanger though, the removable clip, adds a bit of physical and audible interaction, as well as allowing for extra room to accommodate large collars and hooded coats when needed. While this particular design is meant to hang on a peg in an entryway, I will be making a more traditional “hook” design later for use in closets.
