Peter Warren, Dining Table in American Maple (TABLES, CHAIRS, DESKS 2021 )

This dining table was designed to match the set of eight dining chairs I made over lockdown last year. 2200mm long and 1150mm wide, it is elliptically shaped with the ends swung off centre and a gentle point created. The edge timber and the diagonal curves are 40mm thick solid maple, while the three middle panels are maple veneers over birch ply, 21mm thick and recessed in. The curved legs and diagonal braces are all laminated maple. They are held together with large through tenons at the top of the legs and large hand turned dowels through to the braces. Finished using Osmo oil/wax.
