The brief asked for a design that met halfway between 'solid and robust' and 'smooth and soft'. A sturdy table end wraps around to a gentle, sculpted side where curved lines and transitions are the focus. A traditional breadboard top with all the technical trimmings (concealed hunched tenons, drawbored pins and appropriate room for movement in the mortices), sits cradled by the upper curves of the delicately shaped feather-edged leg profile. Tactile and full of colour, the piece is deliberately sympathetic to the Otways Myrtle timber boards from which it was made and that were individually selected by the clients.
