A massive 4.1m Spotted Gum Console unit. Crafted from 5 seperate slabs, from 2 seperate trees. The client opted out of having more storage through the unit as they wanted the focus to be on the flowing grains throughout the face. To keep the natural flow throughout we chose mitred corners for both the face and the epoxy river cupboard. There are a total of 9 steel c-channels routed along the large slabs and 2 10mm square bars parallel in the door to stop any cupping that may occur. 3 soft close hinges and magnetic door stops add that sense of luxury when using the cupboard. All the slab joints are secured by dowels and a polyurethane glue that sets harder than epoxy resin. All of it was sanded to a 600 grit finish and 3 coats of odies oil was buffed to give a perfectly smooth surface.
