Anna Bellamy, Classical Guitar (STUDENT 2021)

With the onset of COVID, crushed travel aspirations turned into fulfillment of a lifelong dream, when I realised I could study guitarmaking in Australia. My Classical guitar is comprised of: Soundboard - Canadian Engelman Spruce Neck - Queensland Maple Back and sides - Bookmatched set of Indian Rosewood Fretbaord, headstock face - Ebony Bindings - Ebony and Maple Bridge - Brazilian Rosewood Nut and saddle - Bone Kerfing and tailblock - Honduran Mahogany Finish - French Polish Rosette - Misc marquetry Tuners - Schaller Fretwire - Nickle/Silver The main choice of materials was narrowed down many moons ago, I chose the woods I enjoyed listening to. Having to coordinate the choice of decorative element materials from interstate, I chose a fairly paired back colour scheme to ensure it looked cohesive in person. The body shape and bracing design are very much informed by those that came before me with a Spanish heel, and fan bracing developed from Houser and Toscano. The headstock shape was inspired by my cutlery for a spot f nostalgia. Shaping of the neck and heel were influenced by how they felt underhand, in the playing position.
