“Catenary Stool” - Kc Croucamp, Irish Elm finished in Osmo Polyx-oil. 2025 This is my final 1st year project which I completed in May of 2025 at ATU Connemara. As a South African international student in Ireland I was inspired by the traditional architecture and structures in Galway. I focused my research and development on the use of catenary curves in architectural design and how they are used to create shapes that support the weight of their structures. The shape of my stool is inspired by these curves while still maintaining a mid-century modern style.
