The Bondi Wine Cellar - Created to maximise a wine storage under a set of stairs for a client. It was built entirely from recycled Blackbutt by Pete and the small crew at Common Wood Co in Marrickville in Sydney. It began by denailing a whole roof worth of recycled Blackbutt and ended with the wine cellar you see. Each of the well over 1000 individual pieces had to be hand sanded and finished and buffed with Fiddes Hardwax oil before any glue went near it. Every rung is joined internally. Coming in at around 4000 long x 300 deep x 2600 tall this piece had to be brought in in 4 separate sections and joined on site. The angle of the stair case proved to be a bit of a head scratcher as well. All up there is space for over 500 bottles of wine. It took us about 6 weeks to complete, a day to install and a lifetime to enjoy. It was a huge undertaking for us and created many challenges along the way. I couldn’t be happier with the build.
