The visual inspiration for the bench comes from the contrast between natural wood and concrete. These two opposing materials combine to create a unique character — the coldness of concrete paired with the warmth of wood. The seat is made of natural oak, while the base, which resembles concrete, is formed by pouring a solid mass. This process posed a technical challenge: it required fusing a wet compound with moisture-sensitive wood. The entire structure is cast simultaneously, ensuring the two materials bond seamlessly and precisely, without gaps. Once dry, the piece is scrubbed and the oak surface is treated with oil. The black, concrete-like material is the result of extensive experimentation. It’s a mixture of several components: an eco-friendly cement base, recycled paper, glue, and pigment. When dried, it becomes as strong as wood. It resembles concrete but has slight elasticity, so it does not crack or crumble. The result is a natural texture with the strength and durability of wood. I call it the third life of wood. This material is colorfast and resistant to moisture. Dust can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth. Materials: oak, mixed material Finish: seat coated with a mix of food-safe oils for durability base finished with matte varnish. Dimensions: Length: 100 cm / 39,4” Width: 80 cm / 31,5” Height: 45 cm / 17,7” Weight: 25 kg / 55 lbs
