This wall-mounted drinks cabinet brings together fine woodworking with a sculptural carved front in Jesmonite, a material I was keen to explore in furniture. This hand-carved pattern was inspired by time spent free-diving through kelp forests in Cornwall, evoking the peaceful, silent world beneath the surface. The flowing forms capture the rhythm of water, the gentle sway of marine life, and the sense of stillness and immersion found beneath the surface. The crisp white carving is framed by black-stained oak, while the doors open on synchronous runners to reveal a flowing sycamore shelf and hidden drawer. Designed to hold a few special bottles and glasses, it balances function with presence, existing as both cabinet and wall piece. Challenging to carve and complex to assemble, it reflects my interest in combining materials and techniques to create furniture that is as much about form as use.
