The chess board (excluding the pieces) came about with the culmination of my son's birthday looming and what to make with a collection of beautiful off cut timbers - Red Gum, American Oak, Elm and Celery Top Pine. The chess board is solid timber and not veneer.....to stand the test of many years of chess. The board was made by me at Malcolm Haley's Dovetail Joint (Orange NSW) with his wonderful equipment.
