The ‘Beachcomber’ hallway table uses ethically sourced and sustainable American oak, European Beech, American Cherry and recycled King William Pine and garners inspiration from mid century architecture as its main structure looks to sit lightly upon its frame or foundation. This piece endeavours to create a structure that melds form and function to create a piece that champions the history of furniture making technique while producing a piece that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, as well as being balanced in form. Most important however, is this functional hallway table has been designed to cater for the modern family with large deep drawers and additional storage space while having rounded dovetail ends to ensure the safety of exuberant toddlers exploring their home. The piece explores techniques around wood bending through lamination, wood stamp detailing, inlaying (both metal and timber), as well as lauding the traditional joining methods of dovetailing, draw boring and mortise and tenons. @chinwagfurniture see video tour at https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch86Lt6jWG4/
