The Andenes Low Table is inspired by the terraced landscapes of Peru’s Sacred Valley and informed by my previous experience in cartography. Crafted from solid American Black Walnut, the table’s organic, free-flowing form is formed of 98 components sculpted into a series of 12 concentric layers. A 10mm tempered low-iron glass top allows an interplay of light and shadow to fall across the table’s layers, enhancing its visual impact and showcasing the depth of colour and character of the wood. Custom designed half-lap jigsaw joints, individually refined on each component, achieve a secure but comfortable fit that minimises stress and creates an interesting vertical rhythm across the layers. The table was hand sanded and finished with extra thin wood oil-wax to draw out the richness of colour and grain while leaving the wood feeling soft to the touch. Small leather pads, rebated into the bottom layer, provide protection and subtly elevate the table off the floor. Material: American Black Walnut, 10mm low-iron tempered glass Dimensions: 1472 (w) x 914 (d) x 352 (h) mm
