From June 17–19 Gympie & District Woodworkers Club Inc will host, in co-operation with the Australian Institute of Country Music (AICM), the Wood n Music Festival at the Gympie premises of the AICM in Channon Street, Gympie.
A three day programme of displays and competitions along with music from local and interstate artists will feature. Mike McLellan is known as an influential Australian singer/songwriters and will participate. Workshop presenters include Stan Ceglinski, NSW and luthier Luke Kallquist from Brisbane who will showcase his handmade guitars.
This event combines the timber and musical heritage of the Gympie Region and is already receiving great support and sponsorship from local businesses and interest from the public ranging from North Queensland, north and south Burnett, south-east Qld and northern NSW.
New events include SingOut 2016 which will be run in conjunction with the AICM's Open Mic Night program. Judges and audience response will determine the awarding of cash prizes.
Entry is by gold coin donation and workshop fees are minimal.
