'Students of TAFE SA's diploma of furniture design and technology will soon mount an exhibition of their two years worth of work titled "The Last Stand", said Sam Nitschke, graduate of the course. ‘The reason for the name’, he said, ‘is because the diploma course is being cut and we are wanting to go out with a bang!’.
Closure of the course is bad news for South Australians who will now have to move interstate to enrol in related TAFE courses.
The exhibition will be held 18 – 22 November at the Adelaide Central School of Art in Glenside, and will be the last of its kind due to the national decision to cut the course. Furniture on display will range from contemporary coffee tables, redgum dining tables to writing desks and much more.
The venue is Adelaide Central Gallery 7 Mulberry Road Glenside SA 5065. (Entry Gate 1, 226 Fullarton Road, Carpark C).
