Studio Woodworkers Australia's upcoming exhibition sets a challenge

Studio Woodworkers Australia's upcoming exhibition is titled Re:Form and celebrates transformation in all its forms. Inspired by the ideas of "re-forming, re-shaping, and re-imagining", the exhibition invites makers to present  work that challenges familiar perspectives and explores fresh possibilities in wood.

More than an exhibition of fine craftsmanship, Re:Form reflects the creative process itself – where ideas evolve, materials are transformed, and traditional skills are reinterpreted through contemporary practice.

The exhibition also marks the reawakening of Sturt Gallery following its two-year closure, making it a fitting occasion to gather makers in a renewed space dedicated to creativity, excellence, and community.

Studio Woodworkers Australia invites members to contribute work that embodies innovation, thoughtful design, and individual expression. Whether through subtle refinement or bold experimentation, Re:Form encourages artists to reshape expectations, reimagine what is possible, and offer audiences new ways of seeing the art of wood.

The exhibition opens Sunday 4 October, 11am and runs until 25 October, 2026
