Richard Yates is a wood sculptor living in Chewton, Victoria. ‘I began carving 10 years ago as a hobby and it became my passion. I've been a full time carving sculptor for the last four years’, he said. 'I'm very passionate about Australia’s history and I love to tell those stories in my work.’
Richard says he could be considered to be a ‘power carver’ as he uses chainsaws, grinders and Dremels to bring realism to the relief and 3D images he portrays.
‘Gold Miner’ is a recent work that debuted last week in Chewton and has received acclaim in the Bendigo Advertiser where you can read more about Richard and his work.
