The Victorian Woodworkers Association are now inviting early-career fine woodworkers to apply for their Artist in Residence program with the next residency starting in October 2025.

The three-year residency program includes provision of studio space at the VWA's North Melbourne headquarters, access to its fully equipped machine room and opportunities to network with other professionals.

The program supports up to five makers and designers, and offers a way to kickstart a career. Applications close 17 August, 2025, more information is here.

At the same time, applications are also open for the VWA's Vic Wood Scholarship, named after its founding member and inaugural president who was widely known and respected as an artist and educator.

The scholarship aims to continue Vic Wood’s legacy by supporting emerging woodworkers in their acquisition of skills and knowledge. The successful applicant will receive a $2000 grant to further their skills in woodwork or woodwork teaching. The grant is open each year to VWA members across Australia.

Applications close 31 August, 2025, via  this link.
