Melbourne Guild of Fine Woodworking’s combined Open Day and Hand Tool Event will take place from Feb 28 to March 1 at MGFW’s new premises at 14 Cottage St, Blackburn.
‘The Hand Tool Event will focus entirely on hand tools, new and old, fine furniture making and its traditions’, said school director Alastair Boell.
Tools by Lie Nielsen, Chris Vesper, Terry Gordon (HNT Gordon), Colen Clenton and Testuro Izumitani (Japanese Hand Tools) will feature.
MGFW’s Open Day will feature demonstrations of traditional crafts such as steam bending, tool sharpening, dovetailing, hand fitting drawers, carving by Ronnie Sexton, perch stool making and Shaker oval box making. There will also be an exhibition of MGFW student work.
This is a free event.
