You can almost hear the collective sigh of disappointment! Queensland’s Maleny Wood Expo has once again been postponed – and of course you can blame it on Omicron.

One can imagine the reluctance of organisers Barung Landcare to cancel their much-loved event, which is as much about local community as it is about all things woodworking. The Expo is unique amongst wood events with its emphasis on the use of sustainable and weed timbers, and a focus that literally encompasses everything ‘from seed to fine furniture’.

The Maleny Expo is also unique in its affirmation of community values, with its reliance on a willing group of volunteers who facilitate the flow of visitors to enjoy the demonstrations, displays, entertainment and local catering that the event is famous for.

Concerns relating to safeguarding the health and well being of visitors and exhibitors alike have driven Barung’s decision, which you can read in full here.

We can now look forward to 2023. Learn more at malenywoodexpo.com
