Last year's ‘very successful’ exhibition was something of a coming-out event for the Eltham District Woodworkers Inc, noted Exhibition committee member Adrian Desfontaines, who said that it also marked ‘two and a half years of Covid creativity/frustration’.

The good news is that the Eltham District Woodworkers Inc are back in 2023 with their annual exhibition open Saturday 11 to Sunday 12 November.

‘We have 125 members including both men and women’, explained Adrian. ‘Groups are formed to meet the interests of the members – our common interest is a passion for woodworking. Current groups include cabinetmaking, carving, woodturning, musical instrument, boxmaking, pyrography and scroll sawing, and all groups operate from the club premises.’

‘We are involved in club events during the year with our annual exhibition being the highlight of the year. We also assist other community groups and associations on a regular basis.’

The Eltham & District Woodworker Club annual exhibition willl take place at the Eltham Community and Reception Centre, 801 Main Road, Eltham, Victoria 11–12 November daily from 9am – 5pm.

This year there will be an extensive display of members’ woodwork accompanied by demonstrations of scrollsawing, woodturning, guitar and mandolin making, woodcarving, boxmaking, planing of timber and bush carpentry. There will also be a hands-on ‘Wes's Workshop’ for children.

Admission is free and EFTPOS will be available for purchases from the exhibition and sales table. A raffle drawn on Sunday 12 November at 4.30pm which includes a garden seat, jewellery box, turned bowl, xylophone, giant ‘connect 4 game’ and an endgrain chopping board.
