Festival time approaches: Jacaranda woodwork exhibition is the biggest
Over 2,000 items featured at the Jacaranda Exhibition in 2025
The Clarence Valley Woodworkers Association (CVWA) serves to bring together woodworkers based in and around the Clarence Valley in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales.
The Association’s member’s interests cover a wide range of woodworking related activities. We have furniture makers, wood turners, toy makers, box makers, marquetry artists, intarsia makers, timber millers, wood carvers and sculptors. The member’s skills range from novice to highly skilled. We have members whose work has been published in overseas and Australian woodworking magazines, and we have members taking their first steps on the woodworking journey. The Association aims to sharing knowledge and develop skills.
The CVWA (formerly Northern Rivers Woodworkers) was formed in the early 1980s. The Association is still expanding, with a current membership of over 65 men and women.
The Association’s annual display and competition is held in conjunction with Grafton’s Jacaranda Festival. The event runs for 9 days and attracts thousands visitors each year. The display includes approximately 2000 items handcrafted by members, most for sale to the public.

The competition section attracts around 70 entrants in 8 classes, open to all woodworkers. The Jacaranda Exhibition also includes a Schools Competition, showcasing the work of students from Clarence Valley schools.
The Jacaranda Exhibition is organised and run by the membership and is supported by local businesses whose sponsorship is greatly appreciated. Members are on hand to engage with visitors and to answer questions about the work on display. Others provide demonstrations of woodworking, e.g. turning, carving, cutting dovetails, etc. We proudly claim that our Jacaranda Exhibition is Australia’s largest single-club woodworking display!
The exhibition runs 31 October to 8 November 2026 at South Grafton Ex-Servicemens Club, 2 Wharf St, South Grafton, NSW 2460. Learn more at clarencevalleywoodies.com
