Drawing on the Balinese philosophy of tri hita karana, meaning 'harmony between people, nature and spirit', leading Indonesian designer Hendo Hadinata has created three striking pieces: the Kuta bench, Sanur lounge chair, and Ubud light.

Inspired by the 1930s sculptural works of Ida Bagus Nyana, the collection blends elongated, flowing forms with contemporary function, offering design that is both culturally rooted and globally resonant.

Using American red oak and American cherry, the project is the latest in American Hardwood Export Council's efforts to collaborate with designers and architects all over the world to promote particular species, hardwoods that AHEC claims are among the world’s most sustainable design materials.

For Hadinata, the project was a chance to reflect on how new materials can inform his design process. Having previously worked mainly with locally sourced timbers, American cherry and red oak brought fresh challenges in terms of hardness, grain and colour, but also expanded the possibilities for future projects. Made by Omega Mas, the works were also the products of another collaboration.

Hadinata's Karana collection was displayed from 12–20 September 2025 at Indonesia Design Week 2025 at Tangerang, Banten.
