Tasmania’s four day Australian Wooden Boat Festival was once again a gathering point for literally hundreds of thousands of people who gathered on Hobart’s waterfront.
‘What’s described as ‘the largest collection of wooden boats in the southern hemisphere’ was truly on show, as well as striking looking tall ships and a range of other classic boats many of which could be boarded and inspected.
In true festival spirit a full program of events included boat races, displays of traditional skills and tools, a symposium, talks from guest speakers, live music, street theatre and fine food, all against the colourful and atmospheric waterfront backdrop.
A sizeable contingent from the specialist woodworking and boatbuilding suppliers were also present in a marquis area set aside for trade. The MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival took place from Feb 6 to 9.
Wood Review and its sister publication Cruising Helmsman visited the Boat Show. Some of what we saw is shown in the images below. Click on the first image to scroll through the others.
