VIDEO: Making the Galaxy box

The vision of the Milky Way in a High Sierra night sky is captured in the surface of a spiral sunburst box lid created by US designer maker Blake Weber. The octagonal sides of the box feature wrap-around marquetry that further depicts the mountainscape he witnessed during a summer backpacking expedition.

Completed over the course of six months, there’s nothing simple about this project, as you can see in this expertly produced video which charts not only the making of the box in detail, but opens with scenes of a highly memorable trip.
