The key to realising your small component and prototyping needs may well be contained in Dremel’s 3D idea builder which has recently become available in Australia from Beyond Tools.

3D printing aka additive manufacturing creates objects by laying down cross-sectional layers of material according to digitally created files. The ‘ink’ for this style of ‘printing’ is spool-fed filament that is melted and extruded, and then cools and hardens before the next layer is applied.

Design ideas, models, prototypes, components and more can rapidly be translated from ideas into tangible objects.

The Dremel 3D20 currently retails for $1399 and comes with software to convert your own 3D digital files.
