Cameron O'Reilly, Walnut Poker Table (Student Awards 2018)

The table was to be placed in the centre of a future “man cave” environment containing the likes of lounges, an existing dining table and an entertainment unit. Meaning that the table will need to comply with a “royal casino” colour scheme. American black walnut was used as it matches the room the final piece will be put in. Throughout the project I constructed my own custom jigs to ensure consistency across each of the chip trays with regard to position, shape and size. A matching set of poker chips was produced using excess timber offcuts and a laser cutter. The use of the laser cutter ensured consistency across the design, and also that the poker table was truly customised to match the clients requests. Transportation and storage of the poker table was considered, and the use of cam fittings to secure the stand to both the table top and the Base means that the project can be stored more efficiently. A production video is available upon request. Year 12, Clancy Catholic College, West Hoxton, NSW. Teacher: Mr Josh Dwyer
