Rushad Parekh, The Workbench (Student Awards 2017)

My aim was to make a solid workbench, one that would last many decades, for woodwork projects that I intend to pursue. The workbench is primarily made from blackbutt, with a hint of jarrah to give an aesthetic appeal. The legs are slanted at five degrees to provide a unique design. The workbench has been designed for easy transportation, as it is divided into four parts – the base, two top halves, removable divider and shelf. I constructed the base with through mortise and tenon, bridle and domino joints. The through mortise and tenon and bridle joints were pegged with wedged dowels.
