Charlotte Harper, Tasmanian Oak Relaxation Chair (Student)

The chair was crafted with a great deal of sentiment, as a contemporary expression of a squatters chair. I hoped to pay homage to my grandfather, a farmer I never met. The choice of Tasmanian oak was a practical choice of Australian timber. The use of leather upholstery was a reference to his love of horses and horsemanship. The simplistic nature of the chair is formed through the cross halving join gives the chair and footrest an air of elegant simplicity as the joins all seamlessly form together.
