Ken Fisher, Rose Wood Memory Box for 5th Grandchild (BOWLS, BOXES 2021)

This is my most recent Memory Box and is 5th in series for our lovely Grandchildren. I am fortunate to have been able to make this by hand from Rose Wood featuring nice grain highlighting hand-cut dovetails. For the letter carving, I have used a series of gouges contrasted with an old-school ebonizing solution. The finished result of silhouetted lion's head I am particularly pleased with, produced by piercing the surface with a compass point then flooding with a weak solution of stain - produces a nice effect. The internal trays are of re-purposed cedar blinds.
